Connect In Parallel to Microsoft 365 Copilot so you can ask Copilot about your meetings, goals, decisions, and Workspaces — and act on them — in plain language, without leaving the Copilot chat.

In Parallel exposes its data and actions through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI clients use to talk to external tools. In Copilot, select In Parallel as the agent for a chat. Copilot can then use the agent's approved In Parallel tools to look up meeting records, list goals, decisions, and risks, run an execution-health check, and more — all within the access you grant.

You connect In Parallel the first time you ask Copilot to use it. There's no separate setup screen — Copilot asks to connect, then prompts you to sign in when the request needs In Parallel data.

Open the In Parallel agent from Copilot's agent list. If it appears in the sidebar, select it there. Otherwise, open All agents and choose In Parallel. If another agent is active, switch to In Parallel before asking it to use your In Parallel data.

In the Copilot chat, ask about your execution work and mention In Parallel — for example, "Can you tell me the latest situation in the Growth Projects Workspace? Use the In Parallel MCP to find the information."

The first time, Copilot says it will connect to In Parallel to complete the request. Select Allow to continue.

The In Parallel agent then replies "Please sign in to In Parallel to proceed." Select Sign in to In Parallel.

In Parallel opens its welcome screen. Sign in to the In Parallel account that has access to the Workspaces you want to use. This can be a Microsoft, Google, or email-based sign-in; it does not have to match the Microsoft account running Copilot.

The In Parallel consent screen appears: "Microsoft Copilot wants to access your In Parallel." It shows what Copilot will be able to do — access your In Parallel account and data and act on your behalf via the Model Context Protocol — and asks you to select which Workspaces to grant access to:

Review the selection, then click Allow access. Authorizing redirects you back to Copilot, and it continues answering your original question.

Note: You control access by Workspace. Copilot only ever sees the Workspaces you grant here — you can share everything, or a single Workspace, and change it later.

Once connected, ask naturally while the In Parallel agent is selected — you don't need to remember tool names. Include the relevant Workspace, meeting, goal, or time period when it helps narrow the request.

Copilot currently uses one selected agent at a time. Switch away from the In Parallel agent when you need another Copilot agent, then select In Parallel again when you return to your Workspace context.

Copilot shows its reasoning, then a written answer grounded in your In Parallel records, with inline source chips pointing at the meetings, goals, action items, and other records it drew from.

Select any source chip to open its source card. The details and action depend on the record type. For example, an action-item card can show its status and due date and provide an Open action item button that takes you to the record in In Parallel.

Every answer also lists its Sources and offers suggested follow-up prompts — like "Create a 5-day execution checklist" or "List overdue action items" — so you can keep going in one place.

Once connected, Copilot can read from In Parallel and act on it:

Each In Parallel tool has a clear, human-readable title so Copilot can pick the right one. The Microsoft-reviewed Copilot agent uses an approved tool set that can differ from the tools available through other MCP clients. See the In Parallel MCP tools reference for the broader capability model, but treat the tools Copilot offers in the current agent as authoritative for Copilot.

You stay in control of what it can do: write and delete actions require your confirmation, and every action Copilot takes comes back with a confirmation and a link to the record it changed.

The In Parallel agent keeps asking me to sign in. Complete the In Parallel sign-in and the Allow access step in the same session. If it loops, close the sign-in window, ask your question again, and sign in when prompted.

Copilot says it can't find my data. Check that you selected the In Parallel agent and granted access to the Workspace you're asking about (step 5). If you chose specific Workspaces, the one you're asking about may not be shared — reconnect and select it, or choose Full access.

I don't see In Parallel in Copilot. The In Parallel agent must be added to Microsoft 365 Copilot from the Marketplace. In many organizations an administrator installs or approves it — ask your IT admin, or your In Parallel customer success manager.
