A meeting type gives In Parallel consistent context about the purpose of a meeting. It can tailor meeting preparation and AI-assisted analysis and make meeting filters more useful.
Set a meeting type
Open Meetings and select the meeting.
In the meeting details, select Set meeting type or the type already shown.
Search the available meeting types or browse the list.
Select the closest canonical type. The choice saves immediately.
Search recognizes curated alternatives. For example, searching for retrospective can find Retro, and town hall can find All-hands. A search does not create a new meeting type; choose from the canonical results.
Recurring meetings
For a recurring meeting, the picker states Applies to all occurrences in the series. Setting the type on an upcoming occurrence also carries that intent forward when the scheduled event becomes a completed meeting record.
Choose a type that describes the series as a whole. If one occurrence has a different purpose, use a separate calendar series when practical.
Clear a meeting type
Open the Meeting type picker.
Select Clear meeting type.
Clearing the type removes the classification from the recurring series.
Use the classification
Use meeting filters to narrow the Meetings timeline by consistent meeting types. The classification also gives talking points and other AI-assisted meeting analysis a clearer signal about what the meeting is for.
